Content note
Stirling Castle — royal residence of the Stuart monarchs from James II of Scotland (1430s) through James VI (later James I of England). Located on the Castle Rock in Stirling, the medieval heart of Scotland. The deepest Brant Hindman ancestors are documented residents of Stirling and Stirlingshire from 1499 onward: James Ewing (b. 1499 Stirling), the Alexanders of Menstrie (Earl of Stirling line, 1520s), William Ewing (b. 1535 Stirling), and Alexander Baird's family at Falkirk in Stirlingshire (1680). Multiple noble Brant ancestors carried titled lordships in this area.
